A relaxed exploration of the Bolivian Amazon River Basin. Winding through the primitive, natural wonder of the Upper Amazon River System on a riverboat is a humbling and fascinating experience. Essential Trinidad will enable you to explore the mighty Mamoré River — the biggest tributary of the Amazon River in Bolivian territory. This region is wild and unspoiled, and offers optimal conditions for our remote ecological cruise and for wildlife observation. Your journey begins in Trinidad, Bolivia, a city linked to the outside world by air and the river. Imagine you are on a floating hotel, Amazon style, and waking up to the sound of parrots and monkeys. Look out of the window and see pink dolphins joyfully playing in the early morning sun. Get ready! Nature calls! How many animals and plants will await you in the forest today? Imagine you meet with native peoples for a cultural experience too. Learn about their traditions and ways of life. Their commitment with nature. The magic of millenary civilizations. Higher up the river, a local community... There is a lot to share... Imagine you are in a hammock on the terrace, cold drink in hand. Flocks of Great Egrets, Roseate Spoonbills and Maguari Storks cross the blue sky. The air is hot but your beer is delicious. Higher up the river, a beach... This is real life! If you are looking for a jungle & river experience without the hassle of bumpy roads and long canoe rides, Essential Trinidad will enable you to explore some of the best nature and wildlife hotspots in Bolivia combined with breathtaking landscapes around the lively Amazonian town of Trinidad. You will spend three nights or more on the comfortable Bolivian Amazon Riverboat and Floating Hotel "Flotel Reina de Enín", deep in the Bolivian Amazon River System. This trip is the perfect combination of relaxed exploration and active learning, with tons of photographic opportunities. WHERE? • TRINIDAD - Only 14 degrees south of the equator, Trinidad is a lively tropical city (population 90,000) in north-central Bolivia and a starting point for great rainforest and wildlife expeditions around the Mamoré River Basin. • FLOTEL REINA DE ENIN - The new Flotel Reina de Enín (26 x 10 m = 85 x 33 ft) has two hulls made of iron, catamaran style. It has 12 new and comfortable cabins with air conditioning and private bathroom. They are roomy and comfortable. The first deck holds wide aisles and open air corridors. There are two terraces on each side on the second deck, as well as a small removable swimming pool with an iron net that enables bathing safely in the river. The new Reina travels with 4 smaller boats whose main function is to provide transfers, short explorations of the rivers, small group excursions in search for good wildlife viewing and fishing/swimming places. They allow access to hidden places, small tributaries and lagoons to which the Flotel doesn't have access due to its size. • MAMORE RIVER EXPEDITION - Our infrastructure, together with our organizational capacity and experience, enable us to offer individualized trips in which the visitor can choose from a variety of activities centered around nature, culture, and relaxation. They allow you to discover the rich diversity of flora and fauna in an area which covers three bio-geographic regions, and are part of the cultural and socio-economic development program that we are carrying out in the region: profits help finance small community projects and improve their livelihood. All of these activities unfold around walks through the jungle — from half an hour to full-day hikes, horseback riding, motorboat excursions, visits to indigenous Mojeña and Yurakaré communities, canoe expeditions with native guides, visits to the Mocoví Wildlife Reserve, and leisure activities such as swimming, kayaking, fishing, or just relaxing under the sun. • LLANOS DE MOJOS - The Llanos de Mojos (or Moxos) region is the southernmost extension of the Amazon Basin. This is a flat region with an average altitude lower than 250 m.a.s.l. The mean annual temperatures are above 25ºC, and rainfalls up to 2,000 mm. This territory is an immense hydrographic basin where the waters that come down from the Andes mountain range give place to a multitude of rivers, streams and lagoons bordered by patches of swampy savannas and tropical forests. Temporary or permanent floods characterize the area, creating very special living conditions, particularly in the basin of the Mamoré River, the main tributary of the Amazon River in Bolivia. WHAT?
