Hotel Tayka de PIEDRA
San Pedro de Quemez - Salar de Uyuni
“El Hotel de Piedra” (spanish for Hotel of the Rocks) is made of volcanic rock, and is located on the Southern border of the Uyuni Salt Flats, only 170 km from the city of Calama, Chile.
A number of unique natural and cultural sites are available in the surroundings, such as active volcanoes, the caves of Cueva Galaxia with astonishing rock formations sculpted by nature over the millenia, and precolumbian sites showing the life and death of the ancient dwellers of this part of the Andes.
The design of the hotel is inspired by the picturesque environment on the side of which is has been built : an ancient village dating back to precolumbian times.
You may want to hike on nearby Isla Pescado/Incahuasi Island, or visit exotic salt harvesting & processing plants.
